Proposal template
Statement of Work Template
A statement of work is the document both sides point at three months in, when someone asks whether something was included. So it has to be precise without reading like a contract nobody wants to open: objectives you can check, deliverables rather than activities, milestones that end in a sign-off, the assumptions the price depends on, and acceptance terms in plain language. Below, a live render of a sample implementation SOW.
Brightwater: CRM implementation
Scope, timeline, and investment for Brightwater Credit Union, prepared by Copperline Consulting.
Overview
This statement of work describes the engagement between Copperline Consulting and Brightwater Credit Union: what we will deliver, when, what it costs, and how we will know it is done.
We've structured the work in phases so you see progress early and can adjust scope between milestones.
Objectives
What success looks like for Brightwater Credit Union at the end of this engagement.
Every member conversation in one place
Branch, contact center, and lending staff see the same member history at go-live, replacing three separate systems.
Loan follow-ups that don't slip
An automated follow-up task for every open loan application, with average response time reported weekly.
Live before rate season
Branch and contact center teams working in the new CRM by the second week of January.
Scope & deliverables
Everything below is included. Anything not listed is out of scope (see Assumptions).
Discovery & design
Workshops with branch, contact center, and lending teams; a signed-off data model and process map.
Configuration & migration
The CRM configured to the design; member records and five years of history migrated and reconciled.
Training & handover
Train-the-trainer sessions for 12 champions, admin documentation, and 30 days of post-launch support.
Project management
Weekly status, a shared tracker, and a single point of contact at Copperline Consulting.
Milestones
Dates assume kickoff within two weeks of signature.
Phase 1: Discovery
Interviews, audit, and plan. Milestone: plan approved by Brightwater Credit Union.
Phase 2: Build
Implementation with weekly demos. Milestone: UAT sign-off.
Phase 3: Launch & handover
Go-live, training, documentation. Milestone: acceptance.
Assumptions & out of scope
Brightwater Credit Union will provide timely access to systems, data, and stakeholders; a single decision-maker will be available for approvals within two business days.
Out of scope: anything not listed under Scope & deliverables, including new integrations, ongoing managed services after the support window, and third-party license costs. Changes are handled through a short written change order with revised effort and dates.
Investment
Fixed fee per phase, invoiced at the start of each phase. Optional items are quoted separately.

Acceptance & terms
Each phase is accepted when its milestone criteria are met; feedback not raised within five business days is deemed acceptance. Fees are invoiced per phase, net 15. Either party may terminate for convenience with 14 days' notice; work completed to date is billable. Master services terms apply.

Who this template is for
- Implementation partners, agencies, and consultancies scoping fixed-fee work
- Work that's already sold, where the SOW becomes the document of record
- Anyone who has lost a month to 'we assumed that was in scope'
Veew drafts the objectives from what the client said they needed on your calls, turns your scope into deliverables in their vocabulary, and fits milestone dates to any constraint in the notes. The AI is told never to change a number in the investment table. Save your own acceptance terms in your version of the template once, and every SOW starts with them.
What's inside
The sections, and the job each one does
Cover & overview
A minimal cover on a faint grid, then a short overview with three facts: phases, weeks to final delivery, and one named project lead.
Objectives
Up to three outcomes with a number or a date on them. Every acceptance criterion later in the document traces back to one.
Scope & deliverables
Things the client receives, not activities. Anything not listed is out of scope, and the section says so up front.
Milestones
Phases on a horizontal strip, each ending in an acceptance event somebody signs off.
Assumptions & out of scope
What the price depends on, what's excluded, and the short change-order process for everything else.
Investment
A fixed fee in one table, invoiced per phase, with taxes and third-party costs excluded in writing.
Team, next steps & acceptance
Your engagement lead, three steps to kickoff, and acceptance terms in plain language: feedback windows, payment terms, notice.
FAQ
What should a statement of work include?
Objectives, scope and deliverables, milestones with acceptance criteria, assumptions and exclusions, pricing and payment terms, and how the work is accepted. The test: could someone who wasn't in the sales cycle read it and know exactly what's owed, by whom, and when?
What's the difference between a SOW and a proposal?
A proposal persuades; a SOW defines. Many firms send a proposal first and the SOW once the work is agreed, often under a master services agreement. For smaller engagements one document can do both: see the consulting proposal template for that version.
Is a statement of work legally binding?
Usually, once both parties sign it, typically under a master services agreement that holds the legal terms. Have your own counsel review the terms section. Veew doesn't do e-signature: its accept step records the client's yes and hands off to whatever signing process you already use.
