The 14-day Team trial
Every new workspace starts on a 14-day trial of Team the moment it's created. There's no card and nothing to cancel.
While the trial runs, everything on Team is on: invite as many people as you like, publish as many documents as you like, and use a custom domain, per-recipient links, PowerPoint export, custom fonts and extra brand kits, connected AI apps and the API. The account menu shows how long is left (for example, Team trial · 9 days left), and Settings → Billing shows the end date.
The workspace owner gets three emails: one when the trial starts, one three days before it ends, and one after it has ended. For the last three days, Home also shows a countdown line.
To keep going, an owner or admin picks a plan under Settings → Billing, any time during the trial. Buying ends the trial on the spot: if you choose Starter, you're on Starter from then on, not on Team until the trial's last day.
When the trial ends
If nobody has picked a plan, the workspace moves to Free. Nothing is deleted or unpublished: links stay live and everyone keeps their access.
Free is one seat and 3 live documents. While the workspace is over either limit, publishing waits and new invites are refused, until you're back within the limits or choose a plan. Brand kits and fonts you added during the trial stay in place.
Older workspaces and more time
A workspace created before trials existed, and not on a paid plan, can start a trial once: an owner or admin goes to Settings → Billing and chooses Start the trial.

Seats
Every member of a workspace holds a seat, owners and admins included. Free and Starter are one seat each; Team has a seat for everyone you invite. Invite people under Settings → Team, by email or with a link, and remove them there too.
On Team, the seat count follows the member list. When someone joins, the difference is prorated onto the next invoice; when you remove someone, it comes back off. Nobody edits seat counts by hand. Starter is a flat price for one seat.
Choosing and changing a plan
- 1Go to Settings → Billing. Only owners and admins can change the plan.
- 2Under Choose a plan, pick Monthly or Yearly (yearly is two months free), choose Choose Starter or Choose Team, and pay by card on the secure checkout page. Team is billed per seat, and its card shows the total for the seats you have today. Starter is for one person, so you can't choose it while the workspace has more than one member.
- 3To move from Starter to Team, update your card, or cancel, choose Manage billing. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period, and the workspace then moves to Free.
Invoices and receipts
Invoices and receipts are under Manage billing, and a receipt is emailed for every payment. If a payment fails, it's retried and you're emailed. To keep the plan, update the card under Manage billing.
