What a template is
A template is a document with the deal details left as variables: the sections, the copy, the theme, and which fields the create form asks for. Templates live under Templates in the top nav. Built-in starting points (SaaS subscription proposal, Services / statement of work, Agency proposal, Sales pitch deck, One-pager and others) are never used directly: you copy one and the copy is yours to edit.
Owners and admins make workspace templates that everyone sees. A member's template is saved as a personal draft, visible to them and to admins, until an admin chooses Publish to workspace from its More menu.
Create one from a starting point
- 1Go to Templates and choose New template.
- 2Pick a starting point. Blank gives you the bones (cover, summary, pricing, next steps, terms); the others are full built-ins rendered in your brand. Use the Proposals / One-pagers / Sales decks pills to switch kind.
- 3Give it a Name, pick a Theme (My brand, the starting point's own look, or any palette), and leave Write the starter copy with AI on if you want the copy written from your company, website, about-us and tone. Customer names stay as variables.
- 4Choose Create & edit. You land in the template editor; changes save as you go.
Create one from a document you already like
- 1Open the document and choose More (⋯) → Save as template. Owners and admins only.
- 2Choose New template or overwrite an existing one, give it a name and an optional description, and choose Save template. The current sections, copy and theme are saved; deal details are not, so variables stay as {{…}}.
- 3The same Save as template is on a document's row menu under Documents.
Set what the create form asks for
Every {{variable}} the template uses becomes a field on the create form automatically. Fields, in the template's row menu or the template editor's top bar, is where you tune it.
- 1Mark a field required, hide one the form should not ask for, or give it a default value.
- 2Add a field to this template… adds a custom field from Settings → Fields, for example {{seats}}, which the form then asks for and pricing can multiply by.
- 3Choose Save fields.
Lock what reps must not change
- 1In the template editor, open a section's row menu (or its logic tab) and choose Lock so reps can't edit. Terms is the usual one.
- 2A locked section can be moved but not edited or deleted in documents made from the template, and AI never rewrites it. Only owners and admins can lock or unlock.
- 3In the same logic tab, Let AI draft this section decides whether Veew writes that section's copy when a rep creates a document, or leaves it exactly as written.
Use, preview and manage
Use on a template's row starts a new document from it. In the template editor, the Sample deal dropdown previews the template with a real deal's values, and Use template starts a document.
The row's More menu has Edit template, Fields, Rename, Publish to workspace or Make personal, and Delete. Standard terms from Settings → Brand are pasted into the Terms section of templates you create from a built-in or blank starting point.
