One-page template
Security Overview Template
Deals slow down when a security team gets involved, and much of the delay is someone asking for the same handful of facts. This template puts them on one sheet you send before the questionnaire arrives: certifications up front, how data is handled, policies in a table a reviewer can tick off, and the questions they always ask. Sober on purpose, because a reviewer distrusts anything that reads like a sales page. The sample below is a fictional vendor's; yours comes from your security team.
How Ridgeline Data protects your data
At a glance
How your data is handled
Encryption
TLS 1.2+ in transit, AES-256 at rest, keys held in a managed key service and rotated yearly.
Access
SAML single sign-on, role-based permissions, and production access limited to four named engineers.
Hosting
US regions by default; EU hosting available, chosen at onboarding.
Monitoring
Centralized logging, 24/7 alerting, and an incident response plan tested twice a year.
Policies
| Certifications | SOC 2 Type II; last audit completed June 2026 |
| Penetration testing | Annually, by an independent firm; summary available under NDA |
| Data retention | Deleted within 30 days of contract end, with written confirmation |
| Sub-processors | Listed on our trust page, with 30 days' notice of changes |
| Incident response | Customer notification within 72 hours, as written in the contract |
Questions reviewers ask
Can we see the audit report?
Yes, under NDA. Ask your account team and it arrives within one business day.
Do you train models on our data?
No. Customer data is never used to train models. Our one AI sub-processor is listed on the trust page and processes data under a no-training, no-retention agreement.
Can we choose where data is stored?
Yes: US or EU, chosen at onboarding, on every plan.
What happens to our data if we leave?
Export everything in CSV or JSON at any time; it's deleted within 30 days of contract end.

Who this template is for
- Software vendors whose deals slow down at security review
- Sales engineers answering the same security questions every week
- Getting ahead of the questionnaire instead of waiting for it
This is the one template where the AI is deliberately conservative: every claim starts as a gap, and the AI is told to leave it marked rather than guess, because a wrong answer here is a contractual problem, not a typo. Have your security team fill it once in your own version of the template, lock the claims on the Team plan, and reps can tailor the cover and the review step without touching them.
What's inside
The sections, and the job each one does
At a glance
Three facts on a dark band: your audit standard, encryption at rest, and uptime. Only what you can evidence.
How your data is handled
Encryption, access, hosting, monitoring: the standard, the region, the control. No 'enterprise-grade', which reviewers read as a missing answer.
Policies
Certifications, penetration testing, retention, sub-processors, and incident response, in a table a reviewer checks against the contract.
Questions reviewers ask
The audit report, whether you train models on their data, data residency, and what happens to their data when they leave.
Your review
One step: send us your questionnaire, with a real turnaround time.
FAQ
What should a security overview include?
Your certifications and audit status, how data is encrypted, who can access it, where it's hosted, your policies on penetration testing, retention, sub-processors, and incident notification, and how a reviewer can get the full documentation.
Does a security overview replace a security questionnaire?
No, but it shortens the process. Reviewers still send their questionnaire; a clear overview up front answers the first round of questions and often turns weeks of back-and-forth into days.
Should we share our SOC 2 report with prospects?
Commonly yes, under NDA, on request. Say so in the overview and tell reviewers exactly how to ask: 'available under NDA from your account team' moves faster than 'contact sales'.
